(Rockingham County, N.C.) – The man charged with an April 2017 murder of Reidsville resident Terry Hagwood now faces another felony count.

The Greensboro News and Record reports that Michael Ray Hutson, 39, was charged with possession of a weapon by a prisoner on Feb. 6 after jail officials seized a sharpened metal rod on Jan. 31.

He is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on April 10 on that count.

Hutson was identified as a suspect within three days of the April 4th murder. A week-long manhunt took law enforcement from Danville to Ruffin and Caswell County.

Rockingham County Sheriff’s deputies eventually arrested the Eden resident at a home on Barnes Street near Eden on the night of April 13.

A court hearing will be held Monday to determine whether Hutson will be tried a for capital crime in the murder-robbery.
