(Danville, Va.) — The man charged with taking a gun from the scene of a suicide in Danville has entered guilty pleas to two of three charges against him.

The Danville Register and Bee reports that 40-year-old Wayne Lamont McCullor pleaded guilty to the charges Wednesday. The pleas followed his conviction on a felony count of larceny of a firearm.

McCullor was doing yard work at the Travel Inn on West Main Street last November 2 when he spotted a body behind one of the motel buildings.

Investigators determined that the man shot himself but no gun was found at the scene. Officers eventually learned that the gun had been taken from the scene before police arrived. McCullor, was located, re-interviewed, and turned the missing firearm over to investigators. He was charged with possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony and of obstructing a police investigation.

He faces up to six years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
