(Danville, Va.) – Shots were fired outside a Danville convenience store late Thursday morning. Customers at Ma Collins say someone began firing outside the store on South Main Street about 11 a.m. The store owner said several customers were in the business at the time but no one was injured. Bullets pierced the front door and shattered a plate glass window at the store.

The bed of a pickup truck in the parking lot was struck. The owner of the truck said he was “shaken” by the incident. He said he was still in his truck outside the store when “two young guys tried kill another guy coming out of the store” and his vehicle was “caught in the crossfire.” He told this newsroom that he sat in the truck and witnessed “the young man drawing his gun from his pants and he fired about six shots over my truck towards the front door of store.” Two bullets lodged in the bed of the pickup.

Danville Police responded and are investigating the incident.

The store owner said this was the first time anything like this has happened at the business, which is located in a busy area near restaurants, a bank and Danville Community College.
