Martinsville murder suspect arrested after lengthy search

(Martinsville, Va.) – The two-week search for a Martinsville man ended Thursday with the arrest of 24-year-old Terrell Kiwon Martin.

Martin is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm in the December 30 shooting death of 34-year-old Tyrone A. Herndon.

Martinsville Police responded to the Valero station on Brookdale Road just after midnight that Saturday after receiving reports of a fight in process. Herndon was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to SOVAH Hospital in Martinsville where he was pronounced dead.

Martin was identified as a suspect almost immediately and was on the run for nearly two weeks.
