(Pittsylvania County, Va.) — Virginia State Police say the driver was killed in a fiery crash in Pittsylvania County Sunday afternoon.

A 2012 Cadillac SUV was traveling on Riceville Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, then burst into flames. The driver was trapped inside the burning vehicle and died at the scene.

The victim’s name had not been released as of Sunday night. The body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for autopsy.
