(Danville, Va.) – Danville City Council is poised to take the next step in developing a major economic development project in the Berry Hill Industrial Park.

Dubbed “Project Lignum,” the development is touted as a $120 million project that could create 80 jobs paying more than $41,000 a year.

Danville City Council members are slated to approve a resolution in support of the project at a Tuesday night work session.

The Regional Industrial Facility Authority is seeking $2.6 million from the Virginia Tobacco Commission. The city and county would each provide matching funds for the project.

The cash infusion will pay for a buildable construction pad and for a rail spur on an 85-acre tract along Berry Hill Road near its intersection with Stateline Ridge Road.
